Life Update

Okay, so I've been doing awful at this whole blog-school-sleep-life balance thing. You know how most people say if you have a trifecta, you can pick two? Well I thought I having four options would mean doing two would be easy, but lately it seems like I don't even have that luxury! Unfortunately, my blog has fallen to the side while I play, for the fourth time, "Let's watch Mikkaela try to make it through the end of the semester because she decided to take too many credits" - it's a riveting game.

Aside from killing myself over school, I have been keeping busy with working as a staff member at Arizona Microcredit Initiative (a 501(c)3 non-profit I will be telling y'all more about later!) and some awesome events with Barrett Women's League (the organization I co-founded with two amazing friends). Finals are coming up soon, so as soon as that is all over I'll definitely be all over the blog again. Hopefully, I can find time to sneak over and do an extra update or post here or there, depending on the schedule.

Little Discoveries

Happy Friday, everyone! Life has been super hectic but I'm starting to somehow find my footing again. Multiple exams, papers, events, and the constant fear of not doing well in classes has been keeping my sleep schedule hectic and the stream of coffee down my throat quite constant.

Quick life update: I am on the intramural court volleyball team for one of my organizations and I am having a blast! I didn't play volleyball in high school (in part because no-time, but also because I'm not super athletic), but I've been playing in the intramural leagues at ASU ever since first semester freshman year and I have really been enjoying it. I have definitely improved over the semesters, and word to the wise: I waited way too long to invest in knee pads - knee pads are your best friends! (These are the pair that I bought!).

A Dose of Reality | This line item is a little heavier than what I usually post on Little Discoveries - this is an Economist article about the impact of the Panama papers, and it is a really interesting read.

Latest Splurge | I couldn't help it - I've been thinking about buying a pair of white Converse for the longest time but didn't finally pull the trigger until yesterday. I know I won't regret it and I am super excited for my "spring Uggs" to come!

Mike Posner is Awesome | 'I Took a Pill in Ibiza' is one of the season's current hot hits, and Mike Posner's awesome comeback (remember, he came out with 'Cooler Than Me' when we were in junior high?). I love the EDM versions of this song, but this more raw and acoustic version really has my heart.

Really? More Covers? | Yes, but these ones are different because it's by Lukas Graham. You know, the wonderful humans who created '7 Years'? This is the cover of Justin Bieber's Love Yourself that I have on endless repeat and this is the cover of the ever wonderful Hello by Adele.

Barrett Ladies Tea 2016 | It's been over a month since this event came to fruition and as crazy as it sounds, I miss how everything was before it happened! It was a really fun event to plan and take part in, and the pictures turned out great.

Little Discoveries

Happy April Fool's Day! Hope your day is filled with fun and *hopefully* harmless pranks. As per usual, somebody decided to put bubble bath/soap in the fountains on-campus and that is already quite a bit of fun for me.

This afternoon and all of tomorrow I will be judging at the Arizona District National Qualifying Tournament for speech and debate - sounds fancy, huh? It's been over a month since I've had the chance to judge at a tournament and I am so excited to judge pieces and competitors that will potentially compete at the national tournament this summer in Salt Lake City.

PowerPuff Yourself | I am not even joking, I'm in love with this thing. I loved the PowerPuff Girls when I was younger and CartoonNetwork is hitting up all of the girls like me, who so badly wanted to be one!

Freddy from iCarly's Wedding Video | Do you remember Nathan Kress from iCarly? Last year, he married London Moore and they recently released their wedding video. This video is quite literally a piece of art. One that makes me cry every single time I watch it (which, for the record, is only four times so far).

Are You Being Post-Conscious? | Being a blogger, whether big or small, you actually tow a few lines. "Is it okay to post this picture?" or "Will this person be upset by this post?" are two of the many questions I ask myself before publishing almost anything on social media. This is a great little post that sums up the questions you should think about!

Design Darling Beginnings | As some of my longtime followers know, I am obsessed with Design Darling and its owner, Mackenzie Horan. The blog and shop are wonderful, and this is a great read on how it all started!

Homemade Ice Cream | I don't know if you've noticed but short food videos are trending like wildfire on Facebook! This method of making ice cream is actually something my 8th grade science class did as a delicious 'experiment'. It's super simple and really fun, I definitely recommend trying it!
